About Us – The history of QuickCopy Audio Services/SoundPack Solutions
SoundPack Solutions is owned and operated by the Baldock family in Balcatta, Western Australia.
Sons Jamie & Brett Baldock and brother-in-law Ian Gudgeon (Gudge) with owners Denise & Jeff Baldock have built a company supplying Australia’s largest range of presentation and storage folders/caddies.
Small beginnings but quick growth
On 1st April 1983, QuickCopy Audio Recording Services began in a small house in Lord Street, East Perth. The original business activity of on-site conference recordings quickly expanded as other market niches were identified and developed. This necessitated a move to larger premises next door at 214 Lord Street East Perth in 1985, where the business grew to be recognised as Perth & Western Australia’s leading manufacturer and wholesaler of audio cassettes and packaging for cassettes.
In 1986, Perth’s only audio cassette winder was purchased to enable tapes to be wound to specific lengths locally in Perth. This large capital investment was seen as the way ahead, and produced significant growth in the duplication of cassettes and the supply of blank cassettes. Extremely successful seminars were held to assist churches and educational institutions to establish their Tape Ministries and External Studies facilities.
The on-site recording system was franchised to Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney.
Packaging grows interstate
All the while, packaging requirements grew! Soon, the Conference Recording franchises became agents for the rapidly increasing folder and packaging range, and folder sales grew in those states.
CDs then came on the scene, and commenced to replace audio cassettes (although never completely).
Time for other things
After 10 exciting and fulfilling years, owners Denise & Jeff Baldock decided a change of scene was necessary and QuickCopy Audio Services was sold.
For 6 years, QuickCopy Audio Services continued under its new ownership. New premises were established in Balcatta, CD duplication continued to develop, and DVDs appeared as an alternative to VHS video.
Doing a ‘Lazarus’
Then, six years later, on 1st July 2001, Jeff & Denise Baldock ‘made a comeback’ and re-purchased the business. Jamie Baldock, who had learned the business as his first job straight from school, came on board as Production Manager, and Brett joined some 8 months later after previous experience in sales. Ian Gudgeon continued his important contact with large packaging clients as Sales Manager, and the exciting adventure of building both divisions – Duplication and Packaging – was commenced. A fresh start; a new beginning!

Why we changed our name
A well-known principle in business is that 80% of your products will produce only 20% of your turnover and profit, and 20% of your clients will produce 80% of your profit. This became increasingly obvious at QuickCopy Audio.
Lots of labour-intense and ‘fiddly’ duplication work was consuming much of our energy, resources and time, while the profitable packaging division often didn’t receive the attention it deserved and needed if it was to achieve its full potential. So, in late 2006, the decision was made to sell the duplication division, change trading name, and concentrate exclusively on disc packaging and storage.
After much brain-storming to find a new name, and negotiation with local duplication house Diskbank to purchase the duplication division, on 1st February 2007 SoundPack Solutions was born.
We’d forgotten what it actually takes to start a new business – new logos, stationery, bank accounts, signage, business name registration – the list seemed endless.
